Elections for 2024 Board of Directors

Stonewall Sports Boston is proud to be run entirely by a volunteer board made up of members of our community. Our board is passionate about bringing the best sports and to our members and to do that we need your help! If you love Stonewall Boston and want to see us evolve and grow, please consider running!

Open Positions

The following positions are up for election and have no incumbent running for reelection:

In addition to those roles, you are welcome to apply for any other role up for election. Those roles include Commissioner*, Director of Marketing*, Web Coordinator, Social Media Coordinator, Head Umpire (part of the Kickball Coordinator Team), and Volleyball Coordinator (team of 2).

*notes a 2-year term, all other terms are 1 year. All terms start on January 1st.

Role Descriptions

Director of Events

Open seat, no incumbent

Lead role in charge of all Stonewall Boston events. As a director-level position, this role has a 2-year term.

  • Envision, design, and implement events hosted by Stonewall Boston
  • Manages the work of the Events Coordinator

Events Coordinator

Open seat, no incumbent

Supports the Director of Events. This person may own/coordinate their own events or, for larger events, will work hand-in-hand with the Events Director.

First Aid Coordinator

Open seat, no incumbent

Ensure Stonewall Sports Boston is a safe environment for our players.

  • Coordinates first aid teams for applicable sports
  • Manages first aid supply inventory
  • May weigh in on rule changes to better protect the safety of our players

Sports Coordinators

Sports Coordinators are responsible for running the best league possible for their sport. The league coordinators are the head people in charge of the sport and are involved in planning and running logistics on game days.

  • Face of the league for captains and players
  • Determine dates of league and other logistics (with support from the Commissioner and Director of Operations)
  • Full comprehension of the rules of their sport and update those rules to align with the mission of Stonewall Sports Boston
  • Coordinate setup, tear down, and other game-day logistics

  • Billiards (open seat)
  • Cornhole
  • Dodgeball (1 open seat out of 2)
  • Kickball (1 open seat out of 4)
  • Pickleball
  • Volleyball

At-Large Board Member

Open seat, no incumbent

Ensures a diverse group of voices is included in decision-making for Stonewall Sports Boston. At-large board members are not tasked with specific responsibilities beyond making their voices heard at board meetings. At-large members may choose to take on additional responsibilities as they see fit.

Commissioner

The commissioner will set the direction and vision of Stonewall Sports Boston. This person will be the face of the organization and will be highly engaged with participants and external organizations. The commissioner is the highest-ranking office in the organization.

  • Outlines a vision for the organization and for each league before planning a season.
  • Represent the organization in an official capacity where appropriate.
  • Serve as the only official legal representative of the organization, and shall execute all contracts, permits, and other documents with legal significance.

Director of Marketing

Lead role in all of Stonewall Sports Boston’s Marketing and Communications. Ensures that the greater Stonewall Boston community is up to date with all current news including league dates, registration announcements, and outcomes of some sporting events. The Marketing Director will develop a brand voice and work to have all communications from the organization match that voice.

  • Write and distribute a monthly newsletter
  • Manages the work of the Web Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator

Marketing Coordinators: Social Media and Website

Marketing coordinators will support the work of the Director of Marketing by taking ownership of a single form of communication. The Social Media Coordinator will design social media posts and the Website Coordinator will own all the content on the official website and Discord.
